Backyard Blooms

Mother's Day is Sunday, and there is still time to wow Mom with a fancy meal or toast at places all over the East End.

Nick and Toni's
Nick and Toni's in East Hampton has brunch and dinner options on Sunday, with a special $80 prix fixe brunch and a la carte specials for dinner. A children's brunch menu for $24 is also available.

The Italian-accented brunch menu celebrates some of the bounty of spring with three courses including dessert, which is ice cream or chocolate pudding. The first-course choices are Harry's strawberries with whipped sweet ricotta, a shaved artichoke salad with fennel, truffle, and pecorino; a crispy soft egg served with bacon, lardons, and frisee; a breakfast polenta with mascarpone, berries, a maple syrup, and tuna crudo.

The main courses are brioche French toast, with raspberry and rhubarb jam, bacon, and fresh cream; a frittata with sausage and fingerlings served with Tuscan toast; crab and speck eggs Benedict with herb Hollandaise sauce on a house-made English muffin; avocado toast with smoked salmon and soft eggs; orecchiette with artichoke bagna cauda and grana padano cheese; arctic char with pea puree; roasted chicken breast with spring vegetables and salsa verde; spring lamb with fava bean and purple potato hash, and an elaborate steak and eggs with a ramp pesto, peppadews, Tuscan bread, and truffle fries.

An assortment of items for the table are available for an additional charge. They include breakfast pastries, Newlight sourdough bread with olives, zucchini fritto, and cheese and meat platters.

At brunch, the kids dine on a margherita-style flatbread, mac and cheese, French toast, or scrambled eggs with bacon and toast, as well as dessert.

The appetizer specials for dinner include some of the brunch options, adding a Caesar-style romaine salad, razor clams, burrata, and a friseline salad with grilled trumpet mushrooms.

The bread and charcuterie options are still available to share for dinner. Main-course choices are spaghetti al limone with jumbo lump crab, penne with spicy oven-roasted tomatoes and cheese, agnolotti with spring rabbit, polenta with morels, leeks, and fava beans, roasted halibut, and prime New York strip steak with asparagus and ramp pesto along with some of the options from brunch. The children's menu for dinner is similar, with penne and tomato basil sauce and chicken Parmigiana replacing the breakfast-style dishes.

Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner reservations begin at 5. The restaurant recommends reservations rather than risking disappointment. They can be made through Resy or by calling 631-324-3550.

Navy Beach
Montauk's Navy Beach restaurant will have a $55 prix fixe menu served from noon to 8 p.m. The mothers at the table will receive a free glass of sparkling wine with their meal.
